Letter Of Application - Regarding a Lifeguard Job
Dear
Sir/Madam,
I
am writing to apply for the position of part time lifeguard at Atherton Leisure
Centre.
I
have attached my CV which outlines my work experience and my qualifications
including the NPLQ that I achieved this year.
My
history of work experience is varied, and although the majority of it has been
facilitated through college or school, I believe my dedication to helping small
local businesses such as Gary’s Gardens in addition to my commitment to my
community is evidence that I am a strong candidate for this position.
I
am interested in this post because I have a passion for swimming and I believe
that leisure activities are an intrinsic part of discovering yourself, and I
would very much like to support others in self-development. I feel that I have
achieved a level of maturity and skills that would enable me to be an
enthusiastic and responsible lifeguard and I would very much welcome the
opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to your organisation and I look
forward to hearing from you.
Yours
faithfully,
Mr.
Nicholas J Craven

Relevant Information
At school I was a member of the Student Council
making decisions on the running of the school and the interaction between staff
and students.
I have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
that allows me to work as a lifeguard. I’ve been passionate about swimming for
many years since taking my first swimming lesson. As I got older I started the
Rookie Lifeguard sessions at Leytonstone Leisure Centre (formally Cathall
leisure centre). I continued this up till my gold medal and then stopped
swimming for a while until I recently picked it up again when taking the NPLQ
course.
I am an active member of the Woodcraft Folk
youth organisation. The Woodcraft Folk organises weekly sessions and camps for
young people in the UK and internationally. I have been a supervisor and
organiser at many camps assisting the planning and running of camps for 11-16
year olds. I am currently a co-ordinator for a camp taking place in summer 2016
with @150 16-20 year olds. I have organised discussion sessions
(around what topics???), walks and creative sessions with art materials.
I was also a mentor for a younger child with ADHD which involved caring for him
and allowing him to take part in all organised activities in a productive
manner. This allowed me to gain many skills such as handling and resolving
conflict.
Personal
Interests
I have many interests and hobbies. I have made
films on my handheld camera and produced edited movies with titles and
sequences for YouTube and other social networking sites. I enjoy reading
graphic novels and novels and I enjoy skating inline and ice, and
skateboarding. I enjoy being part of the Woodcraft Folk which I’m quite
passionate about as I get to meet and interact with new people from the UK and
abroad. I am also very passionate about swimming and hope to take part in the
sport more often.
